Table for Two Table Runner!

Well, two things are half way done on my list. The gifts for my daughter's two teachers. I made a 12 inch block and then cut a 9 inch square on a diagonal to get the side triangles. I have the backing cut for one. I use the top as a guide cutting one inch away for the top so it is all one piece. The above is called Star. Her directions are terrific. Very simple not nearly has hard as it looks. The one below is the Ohio Star.

December To Do List

It is a dozy!

Baste and quilt and bind Matt's full size bed quilt for Korea (before the 21st)
Thinking of making two small table toppers for Anna's teacher (before the 23rd)
Really should finish binding all of my projects that need it (about 5)
I agreed to create a mini Block of the Month for my online quilting group. Really should have an example competed and the first sew of instructions written (before 5 January)

The best thing I guess is all of my Christmas sewing/shopping for family is done. So the above list is a doable one but wow I am tired of thinking about it. Guess I better go baste that quilt for Matt. I have put it off for 2 weeks now.

First Snow for winter 2009

This morning it was raining. Then I had a quick errand to run and while I was gone it was clumping up and then finally turned in to snow before lunch!

I had a nice cup of hot cocoa and a nap while holding my kids. Not a great nap mind you. They asked every 5 mins or so can we go outside now. Finally when it was time to get ready for dinner I let them lose. Ran a nice warm bath for when they came in. It was still slushy so I knew they would need a quick warm-up. Made dinner and then started cleaning my sewing area, wrapped a present and then cleaned the kitchen.

I am thinking another cup of cocoa and a movie then bed.

Here is my stash report. I have a few more things to make before the year is up but don't think I will hit 100 yards used but at least I have a record to try and beat.

Added this week 0
Added this year 73 1/4 yards

Used this week 1 yards
Used this Year 63 yards

Total busted this year -10 1/4

Getting closer

Goodness I have always thought I am not organized but I know I tried really hard to clean up my little sewing area over the last year or so. Now that all my swaps have been mailed I am taking inventory of what I have. I am realizing I am close and nearly done with sorting and organizing.

Let see first what I need to finish the tops I swapped blocks for:

I need 7 more Scrappy Jacob Ladders and 1 more Majestic Mountains

I pulled a drawer out labels blocks for projects and found:
some Sun Bonnet Sue, I need 4 more
some embroidered penguins blocks small like 6.5 inches
7 large hourglass blocks (what in Earth are these blocks for)
a large block made with 30's material no idea what the block is called but it has a border around it so maybe I was just going to build on to it one different kind of border after another?

Then I pulled a art bin one has a handle and you can carry with you also holding blocks for projects:
Bright Posey Chain, I need 9 more
A Block of the month I had started at the beginning of the year. I have the 4 blocks that make up the center medallion and that is it; maybe I should call it a block a year quilt.
Some snowballs in flannel I made some to swap and I see the 12 I received but nothing I made. Guess I didn't make any for myself.

Another plastic container up on a shelf over flowing with black and brights, pattern included!

Now I am pulling the baskets and bags I have lining wall:
a lot of patterns with some not all of the material already cut of in between the pages. Not a good way to store so I guess I will pull out the zip lock bags now and put them away.
Some bunnies for appliqueing with a few already fused to some material but most just sitting there.
A shopping bag from the last quilt show I went to with unwashed material inside (shame on me! in the wash it goes for a quick 30 min cycle)
At the bottom of the basket 9 good size HSTs, WHY?

In another basket:
Tops that need borders or rows for finishing. 15 of them. (I really should unfold and let you see the all of the tops but I will when I go back to working on them.)

One tote bag with my browns because I don't have a plastic container
One paper bag and one plastic bag with with scraps form the last 2 years.
Plastic bag with the BOM material (will be a king size quilt)
A box of kid fabric, a box with my wedding veil in it and a box with flannel material.
A shopping bag with light color material for backgrounds.

There you have it. I have two bags of scraps to sort thru and file.

Nothing has been ironed for the photos, sorry but I usually do that when I am actually working on them not before. lol

Happy Halloween

The kids can smell the candy! They are very excited about trick or treating today.

I hope to finish up some sewing assignments this weekend. I have 3 I would love to complete.
Paper Piece a star. I have been challenge to make one that has a high contrast.

Then I need to make 8 to 10 Jacob Ladders. Also working on Majestic Mountains for a swap. How cool would it be to have everything ready for the mail next week.

I also need to pull out the quilt for my husband and finish it. He needs a winter one to take with him, he is deploying and needs something to take with him. I need to finish adding Ohio Stars. Then find my paper with ideas on what I was going to do to finish it.

My dog tore his cornea last weekend. The vet believes a falling leaf poked him in the eye. Here he is with my hubby on my son's birthday. At least his eye isn't as red now but he still wants to be held all day long.
Oh my! I forgot my son has turned 4! Sorry about that! It was a great Star Wars Themed birthday! I made the cake myself. 4 layers. It was wonky just a little bit but very good to eat.

New Scissors

I got two pairs of Fiskars Scissors and just so everyone in the house knows....

Finally I am done with the Stars now to make Jacob ladders to alternate with them. I think I still have two more to arrive from the swap.
